Mississippi's Brain Drain Is the State's Greatest Threat

Since 2010, more than 80,000 people have left Mississippi than have moved in. Researcher and policy analyst Jake McGraw of Rethink Mississippi examines why this slow but steady exodus represents the greatest long-term threat to the state's future.

In partnership with Mississippi Today and the University of Mississippi Center for Population Studies, Rethink Mississippi has launched the state's first-ever scientific study to understand the brain drain and develop strategies to reverse it.
